My Green Butler Reporting
The overarching aim of monitoring is to provide feedback which can be translated in to persuasive communication to change behaviours. Goal 1. Reduce resource use by 20% Goal 2. Maximise use of renewable resources: water, indirect solar energy and firewood Goal 3. Increase occupant/guest participation in resource reduction by taking adaptive measures which also increases their satisfaction Goal 4. Assist firms achieve Net Zero Carbon emissions Goal 5. Turns monitored data into motivating feedback using a triple line assessment (patent pending)
I am most proud of the results from monitoring to save significant amounts of energy and water to reduce carbon emissions. The results are considered very important by Griffith Institute For Tourism, academic journals and leading tourist accommodation operators Sheraton, Accord, BIG4 and governments Dubai and UK national parks. The feedback has been wide for example I was selected to present the benefits of monitoring at the UNWTO supported World Responsible Tourism day in 2017 at the World Travel Market in London. Further groups like Sheraton, Langdale Leisure Group BIG 4 and governments like Dubai to trial My Green Butler have found the system very innovative and want to trial it. Utilities are not usually monitored under one system so I have to create a new method which include analysis and persuasive systems for multiple energy types, water, renewable water and energy and carbon. There were considerable challenges in creating a monitoring system which would be effective , Wifi enabled and easy to use. Monitoring alone will not reduce resource consumption enough to reach the Paris Agreement's goals because data alone just normalises consumption, does not provide a comparative analysis. I overcame these challenges by inventing a new system and building it, trailing the system for 17 months. Now I am sharing the service. Finally to encourage behaviour change My Green Butler has three levels of comparison to encourage people to adapt behaviour (patent pending) which is enhanced by social psychology techniques of persuasion.
