MSC Blue Fish Label
The MSC blue fish label is applied to wild fish or seafood from fisheries that have been certified to the MSC Fisheries Standard, a science-based set of requirements for sustainable fishing.
The main objective of the Blue Fish Label is to provide a reliable, independent source of information on wild fish and seafood in general, investigating their impact on wild fish populations and the ecosystems they're part of. To earn the blue fish label, fisheries need to respect the MSC Fisheries Standard, a science-based set of requirements for sustainable fishing. Since its foundation, fisheries responsible for around 15% of marine catch have been certified. Certification is helping to grow and maintain the number of sustainable fish populations. To remain certified, fisheries have so far made over 1,700 improvements to their performance and management.
