Label Entreprise Ecodynamique
The Ecodynamic Enterprise Label is an official and free accreditation. It rewards and encourages companies, non-profit organisations and institutions in the public or private sector in Brussels that take action to reduce the impact of their activity on the environment. The label rates eco-management processes according to a scale with three levels of environmental performance: one, two or three stars. Thus, it highlights initiatives in areas such as waste prevention and the circular economy, rational energy use, good management of worker mobility and sustainable food. The label is not awarded for eco-products or eco-services, and does not evaluate the ecological character of the core business of the organizaion. Its purpose is to evaluate the way in which the organisation carries out its activity, not the activity itself.
Q.13. Accomplished /expected achievements: Please share some of the details about your activity! * What are you most proud of? What feedback have you received? Did you face any challenges? How were these challenges overcome? What advice would you share with others in the One Planet network who may be developing/implementing activities with similar goals? The process and content of the label was completely revised in 2018-2019. Concerning the process, an online registration and evaluation platform was developed. This platform allows organizations to start their labelling process whenever they want, to prepare the dossier within 18 months and to submit the request for labelling. At all times, the platform visualizes the number of stars the organization would receive when the data in the platform are approved. After submission of the dossier, the data submitted by the organization are verified, this can be either done by an administrative check or an on-site audit. Additional questions will be posed to the organization and evidence will be requested to check for the truthfulness of the information. These responses will be taken into account to validate the dossier and the number of stars granted. We received excellent feedback on the transparent and user-friendly platform, comparing to the more 'black box' evaluation process that used to be in place. At the beginning of the labelling process, the organization creates a profile indicating the specificities of the organization as well as the site for which a label is requested. This profile alters the reference framework in such a way that the dossier to be completed presents a list of good practices relevant for this specific kind of organization. The organization indicates which of those good practices are effectively realized. The organization also has the possibility to propose additional good practices it has realized. The organization is finally evaluation comparing the good practices realized with the good practices which could have been realized. The content of the label was revised to keep it up to date with environmental legislation and policy, and to integrate the concept of circular economy. Next to an extended communication on the initiative, also information sessions are organized as well as courses on different topics related to environmental management. In addition, a community of organization that received the label is constructed. This offers them the opportunity to exchange on the implementation of good practices. 23 enterprises received a label beginning of 2019, 105 dossiers are under preparation or are evaluated.
