Institutional procurement of food from smallholder farmers: The case of Brazil

This study is part of FAO work on sustainable public food procurement. It provides an overview analysis of the Brazilian case and learning process with regard to institutional food procurement programmes, by examining both Brazilian IPPs from a comparative perspective: Food Procurement Programme [PAA] and the National School Feeding Programme [PNAE]. The analysis also views the IPPs from a legal perspective.
