EcoSystem is a land-use change monitoring tool which shows information on the location of palm oil, coffee, cocoa, rubber and rice plantations in Indonesia as well as data layers of forest areas and their respective loss and gain of tree forest covers. These layers can interact and analyze de-vegetation events per crop and identify if the driver associated with tree forest cover loss is linked to an increase in hectares of specific agricultural crops. It also provides information on HCV HCS areas identified as well as on crops agroclimatic suitability. This tool is complemented by an early warning system which identifies areas experiencing a de-vegetation every eight days, and is linked to a mobile application, allowing public participation to notify and/or verify de-vegetation.
This web-based application, EcoSystem – simplifies land cover change monitoring to ensure responsible land-use arrangement for sustainable development and commodities production.
