Digital resource for teachers about interdisciplinary teaching, strongly connected to the new national curriculum.
In total 6 videos have been created for in-service teachers at elementary school level, as well as lower and upper level secondary schools. In addition reflection tasks have been provided for the teachers to work with in their individual pedagogical teams at each school. These reflection tasks are closely connected to the videos. The first two videos give a general introduction to sustainable development and education for sustainable development. These videos also connect the new national curriculum and how to address sustainable development into the individual subjects. The final four videos are instructional videos on how to use active learning methods to teach sustainability themes and topics and how to specifically connect this to the subjects taught at the different school levels. The instructional videos have used activities from the Active Methodology Toolkit series to highlight the importance of active learning. The first instructional video can be used at all school levels as a kick-off activity, while the other three are specific to the different levels; one at elementary school level, one at lower secondary school level and the last for upper secondary school level. The video's also show how each activity can be adjusted to levels lower or higher to show the versatility of our activities and Active Methodology Toolkit series.
The reflection tasks that have been provided for in-service teachers will support a deepening of understanding with concrete examples of what interdisciplinary teaching is and education for sustainable development. As they will be working with these tasks and trying them out in their own classroom settings, they will also receive first-hand experience in the active learning methods we provide and how these methods can support their teaching in sustainability topics and themes. They will also deepen their understanding for the SDGs.
