China Environmental Labelling Program
The China Environmental Labelling Programme was launched by the Ministry of Ecology and Environement in 1993 as the first national green product certification scheme. It is has been the most successful and influential eco-labelling program in China. After 20 years, more than 100 standards of eco-labelling product have been set up and more than 4,000 enterprises have obtained the Environmental Labelling Certification. China Environmental Labelling program has always taken saving resources and reducing pollution emissions as its own responsibility. Through standard guidance and product certification, a green bridge between the government, enterprises and consumers has been set up to force green production.
Up to now, there have been more than 100 criteria of Environmental Labeling products that have been developed in China. More than 4000 enterprises and over 900,000 types of products have obtained environmental labels with an annual output value of nearly RMB 4 trillion.
Moreover, the China Environmental Labelling program promotes the government's green procurement. The certification results have been adopted by the government's green procurement since 2006, which has become the benchmark for certified credits, realizing the policy function of environmental protection in government procurement
