App "Too good for the bin!" with cooking ideas

As part of the "Too Good for the Bin!" initiative, the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture has developed an app where recipes for dishes made from leftover food are provided. Both smartphone and tablet users can download the "Too Good for the Bin!" app free of charge. There are more than 680 recipes from star chefs, prominent cooking sponsors and hobby chefs online. The special feature of the app is that everyone can help to improve it. Users can enter their own recipe idea for leftover food at www.zugutfuerdietonne.de. A comprehensive encyclopedia provides information on the shelf life of various foods.
As part of the "Too Good for the Bin!" initiative, the "Too Good for the Bin!"-App is helping to achieve the United Nations' goal of halving food waste by 2030. According to the Federal Ministry of Food and agriculture, the app had been downloaded more than 800.000 times until 2017.
