World Green Building Week ("WGBW") 2017 - "Our Hero is Zero" Communications Campaign
World Green Building Week is WorldGBC's main global communications campaign for the year, with an aim of reaching as many as possible around the world. The theme for 2017 was "Our Hero is Zero" in which we characterised net zero carbon buildings as heroes in the fight against climate change and rising global temperatures. Our Communications Team worked with a PR firm to design messaging and collarateral which we made available for download on our website.
The campaign was hugely successful, reaching 24 million people worldwide, primarily on social media but also through online and in-person events hosted by WorldGBC, individual GBCs and supporting organisations. Our 'Thunderclap' campaign in which individuals and organisations sign up to 'donate' a tweet and/or Facebook post at at pre-determined time (September 25, 2017 at 9:00AM EST) reached 3.2 million people based on the sum of follower from all committed organisations. Feedback about the campaign - the messaging and collateral was very positive.
