Wave of Change movement
Founded in 1956, the Iberostar Group is a 100% family-owned Spanish company and a global standard in the tourism industry. Offering numerous holiday accommodations throughout the world, it aims to be a leader through a sustainable tourism business model that encourages respect for individuals and the environment. Through its Wave of Change movement, Iberostar Group is committed to embody a circular economy in all of its operations. It wants to remove single-use plastics from all its operations in 2020 (achieved in all their rooms in 2019) and become waste free (no landfill) by 2025. This implies to reduce food waste and that any remaining food waste will be composted or treated. In order to achieve this and in line with leading responsible tourism, the group will work with others in the sector and in its own supply chain to expand this vision and to ensure the proper segregation and recycling within its own facilities. Finally, Iberostar Group also aims to become carbon neutral by 2030, 100% responsible in their seafood supply chain by 2025, and to have all ecosystems in improving ecological health alongside profitable tourism in their properties by 2030.
hrough our Wave of Change movement, we are committed to removing single-use plastics to all our operations in 2020 (achieved in all our rooms in 2019) andbecoming waste free (no landfill) by 2025. As such, our commitment to reducingand eliminating problematic plastic items and packaging is a fundamental part ofour business as a tourism group. We are also on the advisory board of the GTPI.
