Together for biodiversity in the food industry

This initiative is run by Food for Biodiversity, which serves the non-profit goal of biodiversity conservation, contributing to the sustainable transformation of our food systems, the implementation of the German and European Biodiversity Strategy, and the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals 12, 13, 14, and 15. They have several overarching actions to promote biodiversity in the food industry including awareness raising among consumers, support for farmers, establishment of biodiversity criteria, trainings, and more.

This project supports the shift to sustainable consumption and production because they work with a variety of stakeholders - food manufacturers and retailers, scientific institutions, and environmental organisations - to implement measures that anchor biodiversity in the food industry and its upstream value chains. This is necessary work to achieve a circular economy.
