Technical Assistance: Guidelines for Providing Product Sustainability Information.
The technical assistance was provided by Akatu Institute, NGO based in Brazil which works to raise awareness for conscious consumption and is a partner of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), to 8 companies based in Brazil to put into practice the Guidelines for Providing Product Sustainability Information.
Providing information about the sustainability of products and services is a challenge for many companies and organizations. In order to help them achieve more effective and reliable communication with consumers, the Consumer Information Program (CI-SCP), part of the One Planet network, developed by the United Nations Environment Program and the International Trade Centre in 2020, developed the Guidelines for Providing Product Sustainability Information.
The assistance was a pilot project to understand how we can support businesses interested in providing better information about the sustainability attributes of their products and services. Conducted by Akatu Institute and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), it was offered to 8 companies based in Brazil, from different sectors and with different sizes. The project had webinars to present the guidelines, workshops with the companies, assistance to answer the self-assessment tool of the guidelines, and analysis and feedbacks to build more effective communication with consumers.
