Sweden - Energy hunters, a learning project for students in primary school
Energy hunters - an investment for the future where students get the opportunity to work in an inspiring, fun and actively way with energy issues.
The city's environmental programs says that Västerås actively and continuously should work to reduce climate impact. Energy supply
should as far as possible be based on renewable energy sources. To reduce electricity-and heating energy is the city involved in activities with different behavior-affecting projects. One example of such a project is the Energy hunters. During the spring semester of 2010, just over 800 students worked with energy hunters. Students should together with teachers and other staff work to reduce the school's energy use. The school
have access to a tool that shows the energy statistics on the
own school. Energy Hunter Period concludes with a finale in which students get the opportunity to compete and show their new knowledge in the field of energy. The project has been evaluated among students, and an overwhelming majority of children think that project has been good or very good. They were also asked if they was considered to have learned something new through energy hunters and here the responses were very positive. Swedish Energy Agency: Carin Råberger, 4616-544 21 72
