Sustainable Procurement working group under the United Nations HLCM Procurement Network
The Sustainable Procurement Working Group (SP WG) was created within the framework of the HLCM Procurement Network in 2007 with the aim to facilitate the integration of sustainable procurement interventions in the procurement activities of the UN system.
The SP WG operates as a networking platform for fostering collaboration between UN agencies and other HLCM PN working groups to: • Exchange experiences, share best practices and lessons learned with SP implementation; • Identify opportunities for working together and enabling action on operationalizing SP considerations in the procurement processes; •Support the development of SP initiatives that further the sustainability agenda in the context of the UN's supply chains. • Take ownership of and administer the information and features of the SP section of the UNGM Knowledge Centre platform; Since its creation the group has been active in promoting the SP agenda and has spearheaded the development of several tools for UN practitioners, including training courses, guidelines, frameworks and case studies, among others. During 2018, the working group had 5 working meetings.
