Sustainable Lifestyles, How urban youth can be an engine to achieve low- carbon sustainable lifestyles: beginning in Bogota Live Simply, Live Happy: Aspirations and Trends #EnModoAcción
This activity has two major goals: 1. to spread awareness. What do sustainable lifestyles look like? What can they help with? How can you go about having one? What do you have to give up, and what can you replace it with? 2. Once the awareness is raised, because this is to a young demographic, we hope that results will be implemented in their daily lives so that in the future, they too can spread awareness about how one can live a more sustainable life. At the end of this project, we concluded with things that can be done for such groups in each category, that is food, consumer goods, leisure, mobility and housing. One of my favourite is: "Make a group with friends in which you plan sustainable leisure activities such as camping, hiking and exercising in parks. Bogota and surroundings have a lot of places for this activities."
This activity was amazing because we were lucking enough to work with a young, exciting and innovative demographic. These students were in school or university, and hence working with a group of people that enjoys learning was great fun and immensely motivating. We are also very proud of the social media presence we had over there. We had some great tweets, some TV coverage and were featured in some exciting news articles. Some of our fairs were also greatly successful, we had a donate your clothes fair, an awareness "sustainable movement" and the International Environment Fair. One challenge of working with youth is trying to keep their attention, but that is to be expected and we are thrilled to have worked with so many young people. Our Playbook will be finalized next week and we are looking forward to sharing it here!
