Sustainability Ambassadors Project, 2021-2022
Centre for Responsible Business has been working in partnership with the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) since 2018. This partnership has been instrumental in promoting awareness
about the need for and opportunities from the uptake of certified sustainable palm oil not only with actors along the supply chain in India but also with a number of key ecosystem actors (international organisations, civil society organisations, policy community, media and youth organisations).
The current partnership identifies following activities for the project period:
· Engagement with Businesses: Initiate engagement with relevant actors for commitment and Actions on Sustainable Palm Oil (Sustainability Ambassadors)
· Engagement with Financial Institutions: Organize workshops with select representatives of financial institutions and sector experts in order to build their awareness on the subject of uptake of sustainable palm oil and also prepare a practitioner’s guide on sustainable finance for the oil palm sector by developing links between sustainability – sustainable palm oil - deforestation free commodity chain - biodiversity conservation and climate finance
· Policy and Strategic Engagement: CRB to develop Policy Input Notes (PIN) on topics related to Domestic Production, Sustainable Procurement, Sustainable Finance and Analysis of trade policy analysis of India's palm oil import
Strengthening Multi – stakeholder Collaboration (I-SPOC): Other than increasing the members for the coalition. CRB has the secretariat will facilitate members meeting and other capacity building activities for the members along with building awareness on the subject through social media
CGM/FMCGs companies are able to provide credible and reliable information to customers and consumers about their products impacts on deforestation deep in the supply/value chain.
