  • Published on December 16, 2019
Working with indigenous communities in Cerro de Pasco region of Peru located in the Amazon forest, the project will support a training for sustainable life style Practices and the provision of the sustainable and efficient rural electrification service for more than 40 low-income rural household users. This will lead to a partial transition from the traditional method, to one that takes advantage of the heat of the sun. In this way CO2 emissions, deforestation and CO2 footprint are reduced.
Working with indigenous communities in Cerro de Pasco region of Peru, the project will support the provision of the sustainable and efficient rural electrification service for more than 40 low-income rural household users. This will lead to a partial transition from the traditional method, to one that takes advantage of the heat of the sun. In this way CO2 emissions, deforestation and CO2 footprint are reduced. In addition, the training program will support more than 60 indigenous people including women, who constitute more than half of the beneficiaries. This project would contribute with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) proposed by United Nations and adopted by the Peruvian government especially with the following goals: Goal 1: No poverty, Indigenous populations in Peruvian amazon regions live with an average income of $ 1.25 dollars per day. The Project will help to build technical capacities on the development of sustainable source of incomes with activities related to agriculture and raising farm animals. • At least 20 community leaders carry out a Technical training on good environmental practices • A Training course for native community over construction and usage of eco-efficient stoves with the installation of 40 stoves • 40 semi-illiterate women and men are trained on solar panels installation and maintenance to become solar technicians. • 40 photovoltaic systems with 300 watts of capacity are set for domestic use another one solar kit of 1500 watts serve to a primary school. • At least 60 community members have been sensitized on Gender Equality, Women's Empowerment and Sustainable Development Goals • Starting up the agroecological production and microscale farm of Peruvian guinea pigs for economic sustainability • Around 34 744.7 Hectares of forest are preserved from deforestation • 20 members of the community have become watchmen of forest Ancestral Native communities are genuine guardians of Amazonian natural forests and the ecosystems in it, however many of these communities live below the line of poverty and lack of basic utilities such as electricity and sanitary services. “Oneplanet” project helps us to meet some of these basic needs by promoting a sustainable lifestyle. Therefore, if we improve the living condition of native communities then they will be more engaged with forest surveillance and protection, this can prevent CO2 emission from deforestation, as a result global warming can be mitigated and many ecosystems will be safe from destruction. Fondo Verde works together with native communities in the Peruvian amazon forest in order to build capacities and fight against forest deforestation. Any support from stakeholders is welcome their support is very important in our mission to save the Amazon forest, the ecosystems, the people and the planet.
