Organise responsible preparation, consumption and waste management of food among households

  • Published on June 29, 2018
To create transition in behavior to responsible food consumption and preparation, reduce food waste generation and improve source separation and composting of food waste to minimize food waste from ending up in largely unsanitary landfills in Malaysia.
We have choose 8 states to a total of at least 400 members of the households to join our awareness programme. The states were Sabah, Sarawak, Johor, Melaka, Selangor, Pulau Pinang, Kedah, and Pahang. The most things that we are proud of when we can bring local authority and SWCorp to approach households and teach them how to do a composting. We also shared the information kit containing information on the importance of managing food waste and how to manage the food waste. The challenges that we have to face when the local authority is refused to help us to approach the households. But then we manage to overcome this challenges by convincing them the real scenario of the food waste problem in Malaysia. We aware that this programme cannot be done if we did not get support from the local authority. We would advise to those that want to implement the similar programme, you should get full support from the local authority first so that the programme will be more smooth.
