LIFE Insect-Responsible Sourcing Regions: For insect protection at landscape level

Insect-Responsible Sourcing Region (ISRS) brings together actors to increase the protection of insects and biodiversity. Seven pilot regions in Germany are working with them. The concepts, tools, and results gathered will be transferable throughout other European countries. Objectives are as follows:

creation of new habitats for insects
increasing the area impact of insect-enhancing meausures
creation of regional alliances for insect promotion
value creation for insect protection

To measure biodiversity efforts for this project, the Biodiversity Performance Tool is used. It will support local farmers. Insect supporting measures will be funded by different actors in the supply chain. All in all, more sustainable agricultural methods, incentivized by access to funds, will result in more sustainable production in food systems.
