Industrial Retrofit Program [AFFILIATED]

PRI links different stakeholders of public and private sectors in the search and implementation of resource efficiency, prevent pollution, control and reduction of environmental impacts, technological innovation in production processes, reduce GHSs emissions, improvements in Environmental Management of companies and remediation of environmental liabilities. Covers multiple productive sectors, actually focus in sugar cane, citric, meat and other food related. Implemented through a set of activities, organized by stages voluntarily agreed between the national and provincial/local authorities and production facilities. Stages include steps required for the proposal and implementation of an Activity Plan, signature of Agreement and monitoring and follow-up, as well as other complementary actions that contribute to the fulfillment of the objectives, like CSR activities and final Certificate. Environmental issues comprise a set of facilities belonging to the same sector or grouped in a given geographical area, common objectives may be agreed upon and included in the individual PRIs to be implemented. The legal framework within the PRI are developed are the National Resolution SAyDS N°1139/08 and Provision N° 5/08, both before the scale up from Secretariat to Ministry in 2015. 2017 Activities: 10 dairy companies of Cordoba Province joined the PRI (October-December) 5 capacity builing seminars: Corboba (april); Chaco and Santiago del Estero (may); Entre Ríos (august); Salta (september). Agreement with the University of Misiones for technical research about anerobic treatment. 4 citrus processing companies and 5 sugarmills started the PRI third phase. 17 companies ended their Action Plans, according to Resolution Nº 1139/08 . More than 1600 actions were established within the PRI in the province of Tucumán Waste elimination in watercourses: Vinasse zero: 4.200.000 m3/year and use in controlled irrigation and composting; Cachaza cero: 580.000 ton/year and valorization as fertilizer. Zero ash: 230.000 tons / year: installation of 30 scrubbers for treatment of boiler fumes. 50 Km of vinazoductos and canals for transport of vinaza for fertiriego. Recovery, by recirculation, of around 300.000 m3/day of water among all industries. Construction and installation of 19 effluent measurement and monitoring facilities. In slaughterhouse: optimization of use of water and solids management system. Other improvements: implementation of organizational systems, non-certifiable environmental management systems, factory housekeeping and corporate social responsibility plans for the local community.
