Green Passport Activities in France
Green Passport is an ONU Environmental supporting project whose objective is to manage and develop on a destination synergies between tourism stakeholders by creating more responsible tourism, promoting responsible products and services and creating local economic value.
Betterfly Tourism developed guidelines and online platform to help local authorities managing a Green Passport strategy. Martinique, Aube and Loire Atlantique are the first destinations involved in Green Passport in France.
2 levels of objectives :
1. Create tools for Green Passport :
- Create guidelines for local authorities to build and manage tourism strategy
- Create online platform to follow up each Green Passport project
- Create 4 days training session for local authorities to help them to manage the Green Passport initiative
2. Implement Green Passport initiative in several destination.
For each destination, objectives are :
- Create sustainable tourism activities, generating local employment
- Measure and Reduce impacts of tourism
- Communicate and promote the destination
- The tools have been completed : the online platform (www.passeportvert.com), the guidelines and the training session
- 2 French destinations are being implementing Green Passport Programs are still in implementation. So the expected impacts are:
- Reduction of GHG emission per tourist
- Reduction of Water and energy consumption per tourist
- Creation of sustainable offers by commitment of hotels, restaurants... on each destination
- Creation of local food supply Guidelines and tools have been produced during the project. So stakeholders can use the methodology and the application to work in Green Passport approach or sustainable tourism strategy in local destination
