Establishment of GCSG, experts committee, and chemical working group
With "innovative, coordinated, green, open and shared" development as its mission and promoting sustainable development of the environment and society as the key task, GCSG provides comprehensive services for the implementation of national strategy on "ecological civilization". This alliance is the network and service platform for those engaged in "green consumption" and "green supply chain"; the bridge for cooperation and communications among government, enterprises and society as well as the community striving for sustainable economic and social development of China. GCSG takes equality, mutual benefits, complementary advantages, integration, innovation, openness and win- win situation as its concepts. Having good connection with government, enterprises, think tanks, research institutes, NGOs and individuals and giving full play to their strategic wisdom and roles, GCSG will develop a strong alliance covering all social forces, conduct joint study and facilitate the development of "green consumption" and "green supply chain".
GCSG was established in Beijing on June 14, 2017. More than 260 participants from 109 organizations attended the establishment ceremony. GCSG held the first council meeting on November 28 to further discuss its direction of future development and the plan for the next 3 years. At the meeting, council members decided to set up an Expert Advisory Committee and a Working Group on Chemical Management. The two teams as think tank could provide GCSG members with professional technical support. Meanwhile, it could accumulate experience for other working groups under preparation by GCSG. The Expert Advisory Committee consists of 16 experts from government, research institutes, social organizations and enterprises covering many areas. The Working Group on Chemical Management gather together of the experts engaged in production, teaching or research for joint theoretical study and pilot activities on these topics with relevant services based on the characteristics of members. The Expert Advisory Committee and Working Group on Chemical Management has obtained much favorable comment and attracted more enterprises. At present, there are urgent needs for the expansion of both members and industries covered by GCSG. There also is the need for establishment of more professional working groups to guide green development of members, thus driving green development of the whole industry. In addition, the management mechanism of GCSG also needs further improvement.
