The Ecotourism Club in Spain is a pioneering initiative that offers sustainable ecotourism experiences, ensuring the traveler his contribution to the local development and to the conservation of biodiversity in the protected areas visited.
Ecotourism in Spain Club has the following objectives: - To create attractive nature tourism experiences and diversify the tourism offer of Spain. - To recognize outstanding ecotourism destinations and enterprises in Spain - To increase profitability of tourism enterprises and provide employment in rural areas - To contribute to conservation of biodiversity in protected areas (destinations with sustainability recognition including an action plan for Sustainable tourism, as the European Charter of Sustainable Tourism in protected areas). - To inspire and to motivate citizens in order to promote a change in their way of traveling. Spain is the European country with the largest protected area in the Natura 2000 Network. These well-preserved territories are suffering from the exodus of their inhabitants. It is necessary to activate sustainable tourism development in these rural areas in order to generate local employment. The Association Ecotourism in Spain (AES) is a non-profit association to provide innovative and sustainable solutions for Protected Areas and tourism business in these areas. AES functions as a destination management organization. The Ecotourism Club in Spain is a pioneering initiative that offers sustainable ecotourism experiences, ensuring the traveler his contribution to the local development and to the conservation of biodiversity in the protected areas you visit and in the tourist services you enjoy (https://ecotouristinspain.com/). Ecotourism in Spain has 16 member destinations that are equipped with a Sustainable tourism Plan. AES strengthens the Ecotourism product positioning in domestic and international markets, and to improve the sustainability of any tourist offer in protected areas, getting a critical mass which allows the sustainable development of these protected areas and general tourism management.
