Competence Center for Sustainable Consumption

The Competence Center for Sustainable Consumption is in charge of providing information on sustainable consumption, facilitating the cooperation of stakeholders on sustainable consumption in Germany, organising meetings, and providing individual support to stakeholders, multipliers, associations, NGOs, businesses, etc. The Competence Center is set to support the coordinated and efficient implementation of the National Programme on Sustainable Consumption involving all federal government departments as well the respective subordinate agencies. The competence center comprises the following three areas of responsibility: - Organizational as well as content-related support for implementing the National Programme on Sustainable Consumption. - Providing information services for sustainable consumption. - Coordinating the scientific services with regard to the program's implementation in collaboration with the responsible departments. The overarching goal is to keep the topic of sustainable consumption permanently in the public consciousness, to support a professional exchange between all social actors and to promote synergies in the implementation of the National Programme on Sustainable Consumption.
The Competence Center for Sustainable Consumption maintains the programme website (www.k-n-k.de) as a virtual information and action platform. It also organized several events of various formats to support the implementation of the National Programme on Sustainable Consumption. Furthermore, the competence center has established and supported the National Network on Sustainable Consumption. It also monitors and evaluates the status of implementation of the National Programme on Sustainable Consumption in Germany.
