Comparing reality and Implementation of SDGs in Rural Communities of Togo

  • Published on January 29, 2017
WELFARE TOGO is a non for profit NGO which deal with sustainable development issues. In a bid to assist the government in formulating its National SDGs implementation Plan WELFARE TOGO is producing video documentaries covering each of the 17 SDGs in various rural communities. The video documentaries will present the reality on the ground with regard to the 17 SDGs. These videos will be posted on our WEB based TV at www.ecoconscience.net. At the moment the web tv is hosting various videos.
The initiative is to visualize sustainable development challenges challenges related to consumption and production. This will help in buillding capacities, creating awreness, and lobbying for appropriate policies and legislations. The videos will also faciliatate the implementation of the SDGs as they provide a true reflection of the reality on the ground. Some documentaries on SCP are already posted on the WEB TV. For example a video on the dillemma of trade in E Waste (Electronic and Electrical Waseà in Togo). While electronics and electrical equipment are produced in large numbers in the northern hemisphere far above consumption they eventually find consumers in the Southern hemisphere. Since these arrive at the end of or after their useful life they create serious health and environmental problems in the developing countries. Recording of more documentaries is ongoing. It is expected these documentaries will act as a tool for finalization of the National SDGs implementation plan and in the future can be used to measure achievements or gaps. We welcome those with finance and equipment to support us. We also welcome those who would like to carry a similar initiative in their countries to inform and share with us their methodologies and results
