Coffee & Climate
HISTORY OF C&C
coffee&climate was founded in 2010 by the shareholders of International Coffee Partners (ICP): Joh. Johannson (Norway), Lavazza (Italy), Löfbergs (Sweden), Neumann Gruppe (Germany), Paulig (Finland), Tchibo (Germany) together with the GIZ.
Phase I (2010-2016) focused on development, piloting and evaluation of the c&c approach and methodology.
Phase II (2016-2019) focused on upscaling the initiative in the pilot countries and expanding the c&c network.
Phase III (2020-2024) focuses on promoting climate resilient livelihoods and minimizing carbon emissions while enhancing the carbon storage potential in coffee farms and coffee landscapes.
The initiative for coffee&climate offers membership opportunities to develop climate smart coffee production further, to strengthen the resilience of smallholder coffee farming families and to benefit from the knowledge of the coffee sector or to match the SDG Agenda as public or private donor organization.
The initiative has been coordinated and implemented by Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung (HRNS) since its inception in 2010.
