Call to Action by Sustainable Public Procurement Programme for a Responsible Recovery from the COVID-19 Pandemic
The SPP Programme calls upon the public procurement community to use the disruption of the status quo processes, to implement sustainable ways of recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic that ultimately will lead to a more sustainable way of conduction public procurement in general. The objective of the Joint Statement is to function as a beacon to the wider public procurement community and is intended as an invitation to join in using the tools at our hands to contribute to a more sustainable world.
This multi-stakeholder project brought together all co-lead and MAC organisations to devise a common statement, developed and ultimately endorsed by a diverse group of actors from around the globe. It is testament to the commitment of procurement as a pro-active tool in addressing the sustainability challenges we are facing. Open communication and active engagement with everyone is paramount in harnessing the expertise of all actors active in the field of sustainable public procurement. The Joint Statement of the SPP Programme can thus function as a strong signal that the public procurement community is willing and determined in using the tools at their hand to bring about positive change.
