Beacon for Sustainable Living

  • Published on December 31, 2020
The Beacon for Sustainable Living is an initiative supporting those leading the way on sustainable everyday living. OneEarth, Hot or Cool and a team of communications and international experts identify creative strategies and overlooked approaches to living well for all within our ecological footprints. We focus on solution areas with great promise in supporting the large-scale changes necessary to achieve sustainable living: rethinking reduce; life transitions; cities; and imagining futures.
Overall aim: Raise both the ambition and impact of those who are ‘changing demand’ and mainstreaming low carbon living. Objectives: 1. To build acceptance of the ambitious nature of solutions needed to transform to 1.5 Degree Lifestyles / one-planet living and contribute to implementing these solutions. 2. To catalyze and create vivid imaginations of sustainable living futures; 3. To equip, support and connect those ready to catalyze transformative action toward sustainable ways of living that align with 1.5 Degree Lifestyles / one-planet living. Indicators: • # of people able to achieve wellbeing and live sustainable lives justly within our ecological footprints. • increase in enabling conditions (policies, market solutions, infrastructure) that support sustainable living. • Uptake of sustainable living solutions in articles, blogs, presentations, pitches, and briefings, and reflected in projects, partner activities, and funding. • Resources and partners committed to bold action. • Improved capacity and skills among actors focused on advancing sustainable living. • # of actors identifying as being part of an engaged and committed community among those active in catalyzing 1.5 Degree Lifestyles / one-planet living. • Improved strategic connections and coordination among sustainable living actors.
