Asia Pacific Green Public Procurement Network
The Asia Pacific GPP Network project aims to strengthen the capacity of national governments in implementing green public procurement via the establishment of a collaborative regional network. The Network is jointly organized and led by UNEP (Asia Pacific Bangkok Office and the Sustainable Public Procurement team) and KEITI. It is supported by the South Asia Co-operative Environment Programme (SACEP) and contributes to the objectives of the One Planet SPP Programme. The Network aims at synergizing its work with the activities of the International Green Purchasing Network and other initiatives supportive of green public procurement. Building on the former Asia Pacific GPP and Eco-labelling Network (2013-2016), the new network will engage a broader spectrum of key stakeholders to ensure a broad dialogue and cooperation. Set objectives for the Network are to: - Serve as an information platform for Green Public Procurement among the relevant governments, public organizations and stakeholders in the Asia Pacific region. - Promote awareness and build capacity of policy makers. - Support and amplify the work of the One Planet SPP Programme in the Asia Pacific region. - Identify concrete needs of the countries for introduction and implementation of Green Public Procurement.
Invitations to join the network have been launched, and capacity-building and knowledge-sharing activities will be carried out in 2021 and 2022. A draft Modus Operandi has been drafted and will be finalized and approved by the members. A Survey on the progress of SPP policies has been developed and shared with countries.
