Agricultural cooperativism for sustainable communities.

  • Published on November 19, 2020
After the economic disaster that the pandemic will leave, it is necessary to empower base communities that can serve as a refuge of biodiversity and humanity. By giving the capacity to produce their own food, energy and medicine, these communities can develop sustainable and nature-based production systems. These sustainable communities take care of the water, air, soil, elderly and children, all living in a safe and waste-free territory, fulfilling the SDG goals.
This project proposes four main points to be executed, always in coordination with the local authorities: a) Educate the general population about Cannabis as a plant and the use and cultivation of medical cannabis and industrial hemp b) Strengthen the capacities of the agricultural and farmer's associations in the area. c) In coordination with the local authorities, ask for licenses of production, processing and selling of Cannabis Production for medicinal and industrial purposes, with all the requirements and regulations; and d) Start the planting, cultivation and processing of Medicinal Cannabis and industrial hemp. Proceeds from sales of medical grade cannabis and industrial hemp, its products and derivatives, will be invested in community support projects: primary health care, scholarships for children and youth, community transportation, improvement of local infrastructure, housing, protection of water sources and safe, drinkable water, comprehensive care for the elderly, etcetera. All this actions will be included in a big program of circular economy in the canton. We want to build sustainable communities. These communities will be educated and trained in high added-value vegetables production, including Cannabis and Hemp. Sales will be used in small projects like home purifying water systems, water reservoirs, scholarships... It is planned to implement a circular economy program in all the area, integrating Municipality, other communities and stakeholders. The circular economy program will be aimed to: 1.- Reduction of single-use plastics that will be replaced by paper, cardboard and bioplastics from hemp/cannabis plants. 2.- Reduction of construction and demolition waste by educating masons and specialists in selective demolition and re use of construction waste. 3.- Safe water and water for agricultural uses in all the canton through appropriate and state of the art water technologies. 4.- Strengthen local capacities to use renewable energy sources and responsible waste management. The first part of the project, Education, is the most important. It is necessary to educate all the population, including decision makers, for this project to work. Building sustainable communities and local development needs the participation of all the stakeholders: This project needs: Funding: We want people that can help us with fundraising or donations of goods and services for any of the components of the project. Volunteering: As soon as the sanitary emergency allows, volunteers will be needed, from hand labour to scientific research. Technical assistance: Many of the components of the project have technical issues that can be solved with the cooperation of specialists committed with the local development. Lobbying Many of our projects require mediation and negotiation with state and private actors and with the community. Please, contact us: Mobile 593.9.92585847 (Ecuador) or by mail to
