Transforming Tourism Value Chains in developing countries and small island developing states (SIDS) to accelerate more resource efficient, low carbon development

  • Published on January 10, 2020
The vision of this action plan is to support Mauritius in becoming a world leader through its transition to a low carbon tourism economy that supports a unique experience for its visitors, whilst providing quality of life for its people in an inclusive, clean and safe environment.
We are expecting the tourism sector to adopt recommendations for each programme of the national roadmap. Several workshops have been and will be implemented next year to support the implementation of recommendations. A toolkit to assist key stakeholders in the implementation of the roadmap has also been developed by UN Environment including menu of activities for each solution. The Minister of Tourism has fore-worded the roadmap so we expect commitment at very high level and some measure to be embedded in future tourism policies.
