National Action Plan on SCP
The National Action Plan aims to identify key priority areas and concrete actions to be implemented in the coming years (short ranged) in the Maldives to support a coordinated and coherent implementation of SCP practices, further mobilize priority sectors and stakeholders at national level and monitor and report progress on the issue.
This National Plan is expected to encourage usage of renewable energy, resources and environmental friendly products. Moreover, promotion of sustainable consumption practices such as reduce and reuse of material and waste. This would help achieve one of the key principles of SCP which is to reduce depletion and regeneration natural resources.The National Action Plan on SCP will potentially bring in a shift towards low waste, low carbon and sustainable lifestyle. The youth will be one of the key audience as youth are the next generation and key agents of change for the future. Empowering and assisting them to fully understand the need to adopt more sustainable ways of living that are in harmony with nature is a priority.
