The Green Agenda 2030 of the United Arab Emirates
adopted in 2015, is a cross-sectoral policy. It was developed by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, in cooperation with other national ministries, local authorities and the business sector.
The Agenda identifies 5 strategic objectives (Competitive Knowledge Economy, Social Development and Quality of Life, Sustainable Environment and Valued Natural Resources, Clean Energy and Climate Action, Green life and Sustainable Use of Resources), and 12 detailed programmes to achieve those objectives through diverse approaches including innovation, investments, infrastructures, skill development, energy and water efficiency, and others. The Agenda includes a very detailed and comprehensive monitoring system, including a series of environmental but also social and economic impact indicators.
