Feasibility of Imposing a Carbon Pricing Instrument

This study explores Carbon Pricing Instrument (CPI) as a potential revenue source, aligned with the goal of promoting environmental sustainability to address some of the critical issues of climate change. The overarching goal is to establish a carbon pricing policy that would support our carbon reduction commitments under the Paris Agreement, without constraining economic growth during this period of recovery, especially given the current economic and energy situation.

The Philippines is still studying the feasibility of imposing CPI. A comprehensive study is needed to understand our baseline situation and look at some of the global best practices. Multilateral institutions have committed to providing technical assistance to aid us in crafting the appropriate carbon pricing policy.
