The Environmental Protection (Single-use Plastic Products and Oxo-degradable Plastic Products) (Scotland) Regulations 2021. (Scottish Statutory Instrument)
To introduce market restrictions – effectively a ban – on the most commonly littered single-use plastic items found on European beaches, aligning Scotland with an EU Directive that bans these items.
These are marine litter focused regulations aiming to reduce the impact plastic waste has on our communities, oceans, rivers and land ecosystems.
