Energy Sector Development Strategy of the Republic of Serbia for the period by 2025 with projections by 2030

The Energy Sector Development Strategy of the Republic of Serbia up to 2025 with the projections up to 2030, is adopted by the Serbian parliament in 2015. This Strategy defines three main priorities of Serbian energy sector: Energy safety, Energy market, Sustainable development: higher share of RES, higher energy efficiency, and environmental protection.

Energy Sector Development Strategy of Republic of Serbia up to 2025 with the projections up to 2030, define the main priorities for all parts of energy sector: electricity, heat, coal, oil, gas, renewable energy sources, and energy efficiency, in order to improve energy efficiency in energy production and consumption and take into account aspect of environmental protection, with higher use of renewable energy sources in energy production.

The Ministry of Mining and Energy is in the process of the preparation Energy Strategy up to 2040 with projections up to 2050, as well as Integrated national energy and climate plan of the Republic of Serbia for the period from 2021 up to 2030 with the projections up to 2050. These new documents will define new targets for RES, energy efficiency, and GHG emission reduction for 2030, with projections for 2040 and 2050. 

The new Energy Strategy and Integrated national energy and climate plan, which are under preparation, will define the new energy policy and new targets for RES, energy efficiency, and GHG emission reduction for 2030, with the projections for 2040 and 2050, as Serbian support to the EU policy in the field of energy and clime.  In the process of the definition of new energy policy, the energy transition and process of decarbonization will be analyzed in order to provide sustainable development and take into account fair transition and other important aspects as energy security.
