ECOMARK AFRICA (EMA)

Award ecolabels to products and services after training and auditing for conformance to the African Ecolabeling Standards. At least 3 companies in the 5 Pilot countries targeted by the end of the Project in Oct 2018. Financial Support is welcome for the Project to build capacity in more African countries and award many companies with the EcoMark label as well follow-up on the certified companies. This will raise more awareness and sensitization on the impacts of climate change and environmental variabilities in Africa, the continent has immense untapped potential at the production level as well as in sales which could contribute to socioeconomic development and poverty reduction for our people..
I).Convening of a key stakeholders meeting for the sectors covered by the 4 sustainability standards. ii).Development of the ARSO Conformity Assessment Programme (ACAP) a Conformity Assessment Programme for certification of goods and services that comply to the requirements of ARS/AES 4:2014-Tourism-sustainability and ecolabelling iii). Development of Rules and Procedures for assessing for conformance to ARS/AES 4:2014-Tourism-sustainability and ecolabelling. iv) Development of training materials and organized a training on ARS/AES 4:2014-Tourism-sustainability and ecolabelling in Kigali, Rwanda for various stakeholders for Certification Bodies,tour operators, Hotels etc v). Certify atleast 1 companies in any of the tourism sustainable standards with an Ecomark and link the same to European market.
