  • Published on January 17, 2020
The strategy shows how Europe can lead the way to climate neutrality by 2050 by investing into realistic technological solutions, empowering citizens, and aligning action in key areas such as industrial policy, finance, or research – while ensuring social fairness for a just transition. It presents different scenarios, duly assessed that can lead to climate neutrality or almost by 2050, including on the circular economy and changing consumers choices (the most cost-efficient).
This strategic long-term vision of the European Commission analyses different scenarios towards climate neutrality by 2050. Some of them are circular economy- and behavioural change-based. The pros and cons of all scenarios are studied in the in-depth analysis accompanying the Communication. All sectors are analysed, affecting all SDGs.
