Biofuels Act of 2009 (RA 9367)
It aims to develop and utilize indigenous renewable and sustainable-sources clean energy sources to reduce dependence on imported oil as well as mitigate toxic and greenhouse gas emissions.
The act mandates that all motors and engines sold in the Philippines shall contain locally-sourced biofuels components. To encourage investments in the production, distribution and use of locally-produced biofuels, the act provides incentives in the form of tax and wastewater charge exemptions as well as financial assistance to entities engaged in the production storage, handling and transport of biofuel feedstock.
