5-Point-Plan to Reduce Plastic Waste
The 5-Point-Plan aims at reducing plastic waste and strengthening recycling by: 1. Avoiding unnecessary products and packaging 2. Making packaging and other products more environmentally friendly: Companies are encouraged to do this via new licensing rules, with less environmentally friendly packaging incurring larger fees. 3. Increasing the plastic recycling targets from 36 percent of total waste to 63 percent by 2022. 4. Preventing plastics from getting into organic waste 5. Pushing forward international efforts to limit plastic waste at sea
The 5-Point-Plan aims to reverse the trend of increasing packaging waste volume and thus contributes to the shift towards a circular economy and to cleaner cities, landscape and oceans.
