UNEP and the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute (KEITI) are pleased to announce the forthcoming launch of the Asia Pacific Green Public Procurement (GPP) Network.
11 January 2021
  • Sustainable Public Procurement

The Asia Pacific GPP Network project aims to strengthen the capacity of national governments in implementing green public procurement via the establishment of a collaborative regional network.

Building on the former Asia Pacific GPP and Eco-labelling Network (2013-2016), the new network will engage a broader spectrum of key stakeholders to ensure a broad dialogue and cooperation

The network is jointly led by the Sustainable Public Procurement team of the UN Environment Programme, Economy Division, and the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute

The Asia Pacific GPP Network’s main objectives are to:

  • Serve as an information platform for Green Public Procurement among the relevant governments, public organisations and stakeholders in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Promote awareness and build capacity of policy makers.
  • Support and amplify the work of the One Planet SPP Programme in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Identify concrete needs of the countries for the introduction and implementation of Green Public Procurement.

  • Capacity building through online training sessions and, (if the sanitary context allows it) in-person sessions;
  • Monitoring the progress of GPP in the Asia Pacific region through the development of national factsheets (to be used for 2021 Global Review) and assistance in the measurement of SDG 12.7.1;
  • Knowledge sharing through:
  • Support to the GPP Plus project led by KEITI and to the One Planet SPP Programme activities.
  • A GPP Award will also be granted to reward the best examples of GPP implementation in the region.
