The GSTC has partnered with the Vocational Skills Development Program of Swisscontact (the Swiss Foundation for Technical Cooperation) the Myanmar Responsible Tourism Institute (MRTI) and Thant Myanmar to jointly organize the second Forum on Sustainability in Tourism & Hospitality, which was held at Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon on the 4th and 5th of September 2018.

As Myanmar continues to break record tourism numbers each year and steadily opens up to international commerce and business, the demand for hotel operations and airline passenger service department training have been on the rise. To cater to this demand, NATH Inc. has been conducting hotel operations training programmes in several multinational hotel chains and, airline ground service training programmes at various airlines in Yangon.
Swisscontact, the Myanmar Responsible Tourism Institute (MRTI) and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GTSC) have jointly organized the first-ever “Forum on Sustainability in Tourism and Hospitality in Myanmar” in Yangon, Myanmar (March 29-30, 2017), an event for mutual learning and knowledge-sharing about sustainability in tourism. The event has been co-financed by Novotel Yangon Max and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in Myanmar.
The GSTC Sustainable Tourism Training Program (STTP) offered a number of 2- and 3-day intensive and interactive onsite training classes focused on the GSTC Sustainable Tourism Criteria, and engaged tourism industry professionals around the world through expert presentations and discussions on sustainable tourism best practices for businesses and destinations.
The STTP, begining in 2017, offered online scheduled training classes led by GSTC trainers, available at least 4 times a year.
