The concept of Sustainability introduced into the Public Procurement System to
drive Sustainability Principles using the already established Monitoring & Evaluation Process by the PPA. An objective is to implement self-assessment Monitoring & Evaluation Tool to monitor the SPP at entity level. It is also to contribute to the international initiative to promote the SCP. The project is implemented up to the training level and it is halted due to shortages of funds provided by the Swiss Govt.
Biodiversity Protection and Enhancement in Shea collection and Cocoa Production in Ghana [AFFILIATED]
Joint pilot project to develop a guideline for the implementation of biodiversity protection measures by small-holder farmers and collectors. The pilot takes place in Ghana with a view to scaling-up in further regions at a later stage. In Ghana, 22 producer organizations are Fairtrade certified. Fairtrade Standard includes criteria for the protection of biodiversity, but smallholder farmers need support to select and implement appropriate measures in order to protect biodiversity effectively.

The programme addresses sustainability criteria in secondary resources management in developing countries and has developed guidance principles for inclusive recycling in a globale ISO process. Activities also include the development of basic data for the assessment of environmental life cycle performance for industrial activities.
