WWF report "Stop the flood of plastic – effective measures to avoid single-use plastics and packaging in hotels"

  • Published on February 3, 2020
WWF Germany issued the report "Stop the flood of plastic – effective measures to avoid single-use plastics and packaging in hotels" that highlights successful case studies of tourism destinations.
The WWF Germany report highlights successful case studies of tourism destinations such as those of Balearic Islands where the Balearic Autonomous Government has taken radical action to combat the plastic pollution. In January 2019, they passed a law banning single-use plastics and initiated activities such as the requirement to provide guests with free tap water and the ban of plastic disposable pre-portioned packs in hotels and restaurants etc. The report was disseminated internationally and contributed to rising awareness about plastics pollution in the tourism sector.
