Ukraine’s State Environmental Policy for 2020 includes mention of technological upgrading and greening of various industries, including via introduction of EMS and CSR; improvement in the environmental properties of products; specific targets for energy efficiency in manufacturing and renewables use; promoting cleaner production and developing environmental risk assessments, raising public environmental awareness; developing eco-tourism and environmentally-oriented recreation; and others

Assurance of ecologically balanced nature usage 7.Improvement of regional ecological policy Many notable small-scale initiatives relevant to SCP exist in the country. For example, about 270 million batteries estimated to be imported each year and a ‘Throw well’ programme launched by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources has seen special green boxes installed in public spaces to help measure the amount of battery waste and inform a decision on whether domestic processing facilities will be built. Also, the “Green Crane” eco-label, run by the Ukrainian NGO Living Planet, covers a wide range of consumer product categories and services - product category rules have been developed for 27 product categories and 23 food and beverage categories, as well as 5 service categories.
