Sweden - Small bag solves sanitation problems

  • Published on June 26, 2014
2.5 billion people in the world lack access to proper sanitation. Peepoo, a Swedish toilet innovation that is in the form of a single use, self sanitising, biodegradable bag, can be a part of the solution.
The mission of Peepoople is that all people who so desire shall have access to dignified and hygienic sanitation. Peeopple works in an urban slum in Kenya with around 12 000 Peepoo users, both school children and people who live in Kibera, Nairobi. Peepoople is also working in emergency settings and refugee/IDP camps for example in Syria and The Philippines. There are many who believe in the project. Peepoople have presented it to various UN agencies, SIDA and other organizations and met with positive response. Innovation Network Springwise.com proclaimed it as the "Top 10 Business Ideas in 2010". Peepoople: info@peepoople.com Vinnova: Sanna Berg, sanna.berg@vinnova.se, 08-473 32 28
