Buildings Performance Institute Europe (BPIE)

  • Published on January 14, 2015
The Buildings Performance Institute Europe (BPIE) is a Brussels-based not-for-profit think-tank with a focus on independent analysis and knowledge dissemination, supporting evidence-based policy making in the field of energy performance in buildings. It delivers policy analysis, policy advice and implementation support. For more information, please visit our website: http://bpie.eu/
BPIE is dedicated to improving the energy performance of buildings across Europe, and thereby helping to reduce CO2 emissions from the energy used by buildings. Therefore, BPIE's goal is to make a sustainable and low carbon built environment a reality in Europe. As a centre of expertise on all aspects of energy efficiency, renewable energy and energy performance of European buildings, BPIE focuses on policy analysis and advice and shares knowledge through studies, policy briefs, presentations and events. The Institute addresses the existing gaps of EU policies for buildings and supports a vigorous implementation of the relevant Directives and programmes at EU and Member State levels. By teaming up with relevant stakeholders, the Institute provides fact-based analysis and knowledge and shares best practice through networks in Europe and globally. BPIE supports evidence-based policy making by providing data and knowledge through several reports, as well as its Data Hub (http://www.buildingsdata.eu/) and by partnering in several European projects. BPIE also provides support for the implementation of existing EU Directives in selected countries such as Germany, Romania, Bulgaria and Poland. Taking a country-specific approach allows solutions to be better tailored to the national conditions, making them more appropriate and easier to implement.
