The twenty-first session of the Conference of the Parties (COP) and the eleventh session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP) took place from 30 November to 11 December 2015, in Paris, France.

“Reducing GHG emissions through Sustainable Public Procurement”

The goal of this side event is to raise awareness about the potential of SPP as a tool to reduce GHG emissions.

The discussion focused on how to measure the GHG emissions of public procurement. Three members of the 10YFP on SPP programme also presented case studies from Europe, Asia and North America that illustrated, through specific examples and empirical data, what role SPP could play in reducing GHG emissions.

The SPP programme report on “Measuring and Communicating the Benefits of SPP” was released on this occasion.
