EVENT: Exchanges on experiences in creating innovative and sustainable food systems in Senegal
From 24 to 27 July 2018, the FAO representation in Dakar gathered actors from the public sector (central government, research and academia) and civil society took part in a workshop to exchange their experiences in creating innovative and sustainable food systems in Senegal.
The overall objective: to highlight experiences in the development of sustainable value chains with a view to developing an action plan for scaling up the initiatives.
The participants were able to appreciate the innovations and local initiatives throughout the food system: organic production, nutrition, savings and credit, livestock, institutional organisation, etc.
Based on the lessons learned from this workshop, a national team was set up, which is led institutionally by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Equipment - in close collaboration with public service and civil society actors - in order to contribute to the international handbook and to design a Senegalese version.
