An assessment of the impacts of the UK Government’s timber procurement policy. Final Report

  • Published on December 23, 2014
The aim of this research was to undertake an assessment of the impacts of the UK Government's timber procurement policy to date. The analysis focused on three key parts: the impact on trade and on sustainable forest management; the role of the UK Government as a leader in developing and harmonising timber procurement policies; and the role of CPET. The overall aim of the UK Government's timber procurement policy (TPP) is to ensure that central government departments, their executive agencies and non-departmental public bodies only procure timber and wood-derived products originating from either legal and sustainable, or FLEGT licensed or equivalent sources. Local government is not mandated but is encouraged to adopt the policy.
